Again, it started off mostly cardio, weight machines, and some basic mat work. Eventually my card finally expired and I bought my first membership at 24 Hour Fitness and started going with my cousin all the time. The whole experience was always so awkward and uncomfortable for me, but having a partner really helped with the nerves.

I started off slowly getting into working out at the gym with a friend, and I highly recommend trying to get a partner who is just as motivated as you are, it really does help you stay on track and pushes you to keep going! My father is in the military so while my ID card was still active I was able to use the gym on the military base for free so we would go every so often, mostly doing cardio machines, but eventually slowly started incorporating the weight machines. I knew that I needed to make a life change and get into something active again. I was unhappy, depressed, and I felt ugly and disappointed at myself.

It was nice and all, but it really did take its toll. My friend and I would be so stressed out by the end of the day with classes and work that we would buy a bunch of junk food and go back to my house and just binge and rant about life. At that point in my life I was in college working a retail job and often worked the closing shift. I wasnвЂ™t obese or anything like that, but I had definitely jumped up in weight up to the mid 140вЂ™s, the highest I had ever been, and none of that was muscle thatвЂ™s for sure. I remember the moment I looked into the mirror and realized how much weight I had gained. But it hadnвЂ™t yet, and it wouldnвЂ™t really catch up to me until I hit my twentiesвЂ¦ My biological fatherвЂ™s side of the family from what I can remember was a lot heavier, and so I knew eventually this would all catch up to me. When I got into 8th grade I stopped doing any kind of sports or physical activities (aside from gym class and walking to places when I didnвЂ™t have a car) but the fast metabolism was still in my favor, and I was skinny, albeit вЂњskinny fatвЂќ and not fit whatsoever. I was active in my childhood doing Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Okinawa Te, and soccer so that helped as well. I was one of the lucky ones that could eat whatever I wanted and wouldnвЂ™t gain any weight. I have always been a really skinny lanky girl. This post is really a general introduction & of course my experience with two popular fitness influencers training programs but IвЂ™m hoping to write more fitness journey related posts along the way. I started my journey (and took it seriously) back in 2012 and I have learned so much along the way and have seen so much progress (and have also had my fair share of setbacks). Well let me start with telling you a little bit about when I started my fitness journey and how I have progressed over time. So a lot of people have been asking me about what kind of exercises I do (particularly glute building exercises) as well as what I do for nutrition/meals and how I learned so much about different workouts and proper form. Thanks for reading and I hope I have helped some of you out on your journey!) If IвЂ™m feeling brave I may also do some progress photos so you can see how things have been going on the Alexia Clark plan which I still follow pretty frequently as well as some heavy weightlifting days.

Also a lot has changed in my fitness journey (lots of progress!) and other things as well so IвЂ™ll be doing a follow-up post soon and will also be updating any information about these plans mentioned since some changes have been made.

I just wanted to say that I am working on doing an update follow-up post to this one and hope to blog a little more regularly about my fitness journey as well as reviews on plans/workouts, athletic wear, health & nutrition, and more! This was written in 2016 (with only one update in 2017 when I started the Alexia Clark subscription) and a lot of the general information about each plan hasnвЂ™t changed but there are some (good) differences. (Update March 5, 2019: Hi everyone! I still canвЂ™t believe how many people have read this post and continue to visit this post! This is one of my most popular posts on the blog which is funny because itвЂ™s my only fitness post on the blog thus far even though health & fitness is such a big part of my daily life.
